Disney 2012: Star Wars + Marvel Cinematic Universe

More shopping we did, this time for some Star Wars action figures! We scored some great exclusives figures that we will soon reveal.

As you know Isaac and I are huge fans of the Marvel universe. Our collection of Marvel action figures it totally insane and always grows. We also loved all of the films made as part of the Marvel cinematic universe; Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America the First Avenger, The Avengers. We have seen them numerous times in theatre (3 times actually for The Avengers) and countless times on DVD.

This evening at Comic-Con International, Marvel Studios revealed its plans for Phase Two of its cinematic universe, announcing titles for the Captain America and Thor sequels, while confirming Guardians of the Galaxy and revealing the first concept art. Director Edgar Wright also showed off test footage for the long-developing Ant-Man.

Lending credence to speculation that the follow-up to Captain America: The First Avenger will borrow from Ed Brubaker’s acclaimed Marvel comics storyline, the sequel to last year’s hit will be called Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, the film opens April 4, 2014.

Helmed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), Thor: The Dark World will arrive in theaters Nov. 8, 2013. And Guardians of the Galaxy is, of course, the mystery release set for Aug. 1, 2014.

Seriously there is no better time to be a fan of Marvel. Their sale to Disney ended up being possibly the best thing ever for the company. Marvel is unstoppable!

Looking back at the titles of each upcoming films and we can clearly see what should happen in this Phase Two that will end with The Avengers 2. Now I have my own "theories" about everything and I doubt that I will be wrong. So far the films have more or less followed the comic books so we are in for something BIG! Something so big that even Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield's version) owned by Sony for films adaptation will end up in The Avengers 2.

So far the order for Phase Two is:

- Iron Man 3
May 3rd, 2013
It will follow the "Extremis" storyline. Also what I suspected as been confirmed! Ben Kingsley is playing The Mandarin in Iron Man 3. He was revealed, in full costume, at the end of last night's Comic-Con promo footage. The first thing we saw were the rings, but the hair and the robe and the whole kit and caboodle were revealed as he sat back on his ornate chair.

- Thor The Dark World
November 3rd, 2013
No details of the story is available yet but judging from what happened in The Avengers I have a clear idea of where this one will go. Remember what the Chitauri said to Loki? Remember which famous glove we see quickly in Thor?

- Captain America Winter Soldier
April 4th, 2014
The title pretty much gives it all! This should be awesome! Isaac and I are big fan of the Winter Soldier (Bucky). I guess there is even a chance of a returning Red Skull!

- Guardians of the Galaxy
August 1st, 2014
Drax, Groot, Star-Lord, Gamora and Rocket Raccoon will make their live action debut! Insane!! And since The Avengers 2 is rumoured for a 2015 release, Guardians of the Galaxy should be the last film to lead to the big finale in the sequel to the third biggest film of all time, The Avengers!

There is also an Ant-Man film from director/screenwriter Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) coming. Black Panther is also coming to the big screen and so is Doctor Strange and a new Hulk film.

Wow!
