DC Comics

While my son and I play with our action figures all the time, there are certain moments when he wants to play all by himself. This was one of those times... Green Lantern and Green Arrow had turn bad and it was Martian Manhunter who had to teach them a lesson because they had kill most other Super Powers from DC Comics!

In the end the good guys won!

Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2

Unlike most I was a big fan of The Force Unleashed on the Nintendo Wii. Apart from some camera problems, the game worked very well, had a involving storyline, cool characters and an amazing ending. Back then my son was sadly too young to play video games... today it is a whole different story!

When I saw the sequel on sale I immediately pick it up. Isaac played the first one a little a few months ago but with this new one it would be new to the both of us. There are lots of great Wii games we play as a duo; Lego Batman, Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga, Spyborgs, Super Smash Bros., Wii Sports Resort, TMNT Smash-Up, Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars... and now Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2!

Starkiller is back!

Flea Market Hunting: Big Trouble In Little China

One amazing find at the flea market was one of the action figure based on the John Carpenter film Big Trouble In Little China! Sadly it wasn't the Jack Burton figure, played by Kurt Russell in the movie.

We got the bad guy named Lighthing, which is more or less a Raiden type character in the film. It is not the best looking figure but we are happy to own him... especially since it was sealed and only $5. I have seen this one go for as much as $150 US on sites like Ebay and Amazon. Maybe we will end up selling it (it is steal sealed) so that we could buy other cooler figures!

Flea Market Hunting: Batman

The only action figure of the Catwoman we owned was a pretty beaten up version of the one based on the Tim Burton film, Batman Returns. But finally we got a brand new and sealed (at the time) Legends of Batman edition of Catwoman.

Released by Kenner in 1994, this is probably the sexiest version Selina Kyle's alter ego! It comes with lots of accessories such as a whip, capture net to catch enemies and more.

Flea Market Hunting: Masters of the Universe

The Most Powerful Man in the Universe in his Battle Armor!

Another important find at our last trip at the flea market, was Isaac's very first original series Masters of the Universe action figure. We do own a Neca statue of Hordak and the original Battlecat, which I bought more or less for myself last summer.

He-Man's chest has three "damage indicators": undamaged, one slash, and two slashes. Chest Shows damage if it is hit by an object. He originally came with a Power Sword and a Battle Ax. This figure produced by Mattel was released in 1984. There was also a similar version of Skeletor released.

Flea Market Hunting : Super Powers

Another cool toy we found during our last trip at the flea market was Superman's Supermobile! Now why would Superman need a spaceship? I don't know! I used to own this as a kid but sadly lost it.

This was an actual vehicle used by Superman in the comics to clean up all the Kryptonite in the world, back in DC's pre-crisis days. Had a "Krypton-Action Ram" and "Villain Captivators". Apparently was made as a companion piece to Lex Luthor's Lex-Soar 7.

And here's an great article on what would have been the last series of Super Powers collection!

Flea Market Hunting : Beetlejuice

Another very cool and unexpected score at the flea market was to find the original and sealed Beetlejuice Vanishing Vault bed playset! This cool set release by Kenner around 1990 comes with a micro Beetlejuice figure. Isaac has been playing a lot with this one... now all we need is an actual Beetlejuice figure.

Flea Market Hunting : M.U.S.C.L.E.

Back to the flea market we were and so many cool stuff we found during our last trip there. Remember M.U.S.C.L.E. ? These little wrestlers were taken from a Japanese comic book and cartoon, Kinnikuman (Muscle Man), which is about intergalactic wrestling. Originally they were produced by Bandai/Japan in the mid 80s. Mattel distributed them in the USA.

We found a bag full of them for one buck! M.U.S.C.L.E., (Millions of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere), was a toyline of 2-inch tall monochromatic PVC gum figures. The US line included 236 official figures, a boardgame, a NES game entitled M.U.S.C.L.E., a championship belt figure holder, and a wrestling ring playset.

Ben 10

Guess what? We found a new Ben 10 action figure at Toys R US! HyperAlien Highbreed is a big detailed and superb looking Ben 10 action figure. This 7.5" figure has only 5 points of articulation but it is probably the best looking figure ever of all of the Ben 10 series.

The Highbreeds are a powerful, intelligent alien species, who are racist to the extent they believe that their DNA is the purest of all alien species and seek to cleanse the galaxy of "lower life forms".

Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars

Isaac and I love Lego.
Isaac and I love Star Wars.
Isaac and I love Nintendo.
So we did get the latest Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars video game on the Wii the day it came out!

Its a very cool game that features some very epic fights! There are tons of puzzles to solve and secret new areas. Using the force you can pick up and throw enemies - even turning them into weapons! The multiplayer co-op has been improved. There are tons of cool characters to unlock.

The story is actually very good and it spans over 16 different star systems! Some boss battles are simply crazy! For Isaac and I this will probably contender for game of the year!

Batman Happy Meal

The second set we got (#2) featured Firestorm, Two-Face and Solomon Grundy. We now have more baddies then good guys!

One of Isaac's favorite super hero figure is the original Firestorm from the classic Kenner Super Powers collection. So he was very happy to have a new version of this character!

Batman Happy Meal

McDonald's Happy Meal these days features the very cool figures based on the Batman The Brave and the Bold animated TV series. Not surprisingly, we were there the first day they came out and got the first two sets.

Below is set #1 featuring Batman, Penguin and the Batmobile. The figures themselves are pretty basics and  not that detailed but Isaac simply loves them! For him its another Batman collection that he will enjoy playing with!

Ghost Rider

Isaac finally got his very first Ghost Rider action figure!

Loosely based from the live action film, this is the Fire Blast Ghost Rider. Standing 6" tall, its a very detailed and articulated figure. It comes with a cool illuminated "flame launcher" that fires two projectiles.

Ben 10

The other Ben 10 action figure we got was Vilgax! The intergalactic alien conqueror, a Chimera Sui Generis from the planet Vilgaxia, who serves as Ben's archenemy and most recurring opponent. He has since appeared in almost all seasons of the original series, as well as season 3 of Alien Force.

This was the Ben 10 action figure we have been looking for over two years now! It is almost impossible to find or simply just too expensive. We got the Battle version which goes for around $80 online. Its a nice action figure and Vilgax is simply bad ass! And if your wondering... I got it for $2.

Ben 10

Two other Ben 10 action figures we got were Diamonhead and Upgrade!

This is actually our third version of Diamonhead... what can we say, we just love him! He is one of the original Ben 10 alien character. Diamondhead is a silicon-based lifeform that is about 7 feet in height. His body is composed of extremely sharp and durable green crystals. He wears a uniform similar to Ben's clothing which is black on one half and white on the other.

Upgrade is the Codon Stream's sample of a Galvanic Mechamorph (mecha meaning machine and morph meaning transform) of the planet Galvan B, a formerly uninhabited moon orbiting Galvan Prime. Its our very first version of this cool character that we own.

Our Ben 10 collection is nicely building itself!

Ben 10

For the past 2 years and a half, Isaac and I have been addicted to the Ben 10 animated TV show and action figures. It is about a boy who acquires a watch-like alien device attached to his wrist that allows him to turn into alien creatures. All fun!

I managed to find a couple of Ben 10 figures online for almost nothing!

First there is Upchuck, he is a Gourmand (from the French word "gourmet," meaning "one who enjoys fine food" or "glutton") from the planet Peptos XI ("Peptos" being the Greek word for "cooked" or "digested"). Its a big and cool looking figure and actually the very first version of this character we own.

Second is Fourarms! Ben's preferred offensive form is Fourarms, a Tetramand (tetra meaning "four" in Greek, mand being "arms" in Latin) from the desert planet Khoros. Khoros epitomizes a dystopia, resulting in the strength-oriented Tetramands. This is our second version of the character.

Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice...

Guess who's back? Galactus!

The devour of worlds came back for a third time to try to eliminate the goods guy. Along with his servant the Silver Surfer, Galactus was joined by most of the bad guys from the Marvel universe.

The victory was almost theirs... until Isaac decided to bring in the AT-AT from the Star Wars universe. The gigantic robot almost destroyed Galactus who soon found himself falling down and now at the mercy of the good guys!

Star Wars

As a gift from his aunt Stephanie, Isaac got a very cool 70 pieces Star Wars puzzle that came with a even cooler Yoda figure! He loves it! It comes in a very nice cylindrical case.

Marvel Universe

Along with getting our very first Thor action figure, we bought the Wreckler. Looking at the back of his card, we found out that this bad guy was actually one of Thor's foe! The Asgardian magic turned him into a being powerful enough to challenge the mighty Thor!

The figure itself is beautiful, nicely sculpted and one of the coolest looking from the Marvel Universe collection.
