Flea Market Hunting : Lego

Another awesome Lego mini figure we found at the flea market was the Werewolf released in Series 4. As far as I am concerned, this is one of the best looking they released! Now all we are missing is Dracula, Frankenstein and all other Lego mini monsters!

Flea Market Hunting : Lego Batman

During a recent trip to the flea market we found a few awesome Lego mini figurines! The first one was The Penguin. Collectors of Lego Batman knows just how rare and expensive those lego Batman mini figurines and sets are. Lucky for us, we got a very good price for this one!

Lego Alien Conquest

Isaac and I love Lego! What started very small as become a whole sub-culture on its own! And with Isaac about to turn five, he has the perfect to enjoy Lego.

A few months ago we saw online that they were coming out with a new series, Alien Conquest. Isaac kept talking to me about how he wanted that big Alien spaceship... now he does.

UFO Abduction is set number 7052 and contains 211 pieces. Its a very cool set that comes with three Lego mini figures, lots of accessories and a superb Alien spaceship! Another cool thing is that the spaceship actually illuminates and there is a trap under to capture humans!

Look how proud and happy he is!

Isaac has a twin!

Ever heard of the Twin Theory? Everyone supposedly has a "twin" somewhere in the world... I guess we found the twin of my son!

In a very heart warming email I received a few weeks ago, a mom wrote me; "Hi there – I’m in Calgary and came across your blog when I was doing a search – and I have to tell you that I had to look twice to make sure this wasn’t a picture of my son.  They could pass for twins!"

"our son’s look so much alike that we had to check the furniture in one of the pictures where he was playing with the minifigs to make sure that wasn’t our house."

AhhAHHAhHA just how amazing is that! Wow!

Little Jordi from Calgary Canada looks a lot like Isaac! And I mean a lot! In some pictures they send me I was even doubting if it was my son or not!

"Isaac looks alot like Jordi especially in some pictures – long eyelashes, big brown eyes, similar nose – Jordi is really into star wars and lego – last year he placed 2nd in a lego competition in his age category"

Thank you Raelene for this great email!
All the best to you and your beautiful family!

ToyCon : Godzilla

The last Godzilla monster we got was the amazing 12" classic MechaGodzilla! Like the previous two this one looks amazing and is so much fun! This is the Millenium MechaGodzilla 3 aka Kiryu, from the movies Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla Tokyo SOS.

Introduced in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974). He is Godzilla's mechanical doppelgänger and one of the most popular Toho kaiju. Mechagodzilla is also recognized as one of Godzilla's most powerful enemies (all iterations have at one point or another come very close to killing the King of the Monsters).

ToyCon : Godzilla

Another very cool giant monster we got was the 12" deluxe classic version of Gigan! Its a superbly detailed and sculpted figure.

Gigan is a kaiju (Japanese giant monster) from the Godzilla series, introduced in the 1972 film Godzilla vs. Gigan. Gigan is a cybernetic monster sporting a buzzsaw weapon in its frontal abdominal region and large metallic hooks for hands. Gigan is considered Godzilla's most brutal and violent opponent, alongside Destroyah, both of which were easily able to severely injure Godzilla. Gigan was also the first monster in the Toho sci-fi series to cause Godzilla to visibly bleed.

ToyCon : Godzilla

At the ToyCon we finally found those amazing Godzilla figure released by Bandai. Out in 2007, this deluxe 11" Godzilla is probably the best looking one. Based on the Godzilla Final Wars movie this is one mean version of Godzilla.

ToyCon : Aliens

While walking around the ToyCon, Isaac noticed this gross and scary action figure based on James Cameroun's ALIENS. He asked me what it was. After a quick explanation, Isaac asked me if we could buy it. At only $4 I couldn't refuse. And thus began Isaac's love for Aliens!

We got the special deluxe Alien Queen based on Aliens. The Queen Alien has two features. When you press the back of the head in, the inner jaw of the queen will slash out from the mouth. On the hip is a button, when pressed the queen will quickly turn at the waist and her tail we knock down anything.

Its a very cool figure and Isaac hasn't stopped playing with it... this is NOT the last one we are getting thats for sure!

ToyCon : Ben 10

We got one last Ben 10 action figure at the ToyCon, the evil Zs'Skayr!

Zs'Skayr was the Ectonurite High Ecto-Lord of Anur Phaetos. He originally was stuck in the form of Ghostfreak, but after time managed to gain control over it and escape the Omnitrix, becoming one of Ben Tennyson's most dangerous enemies.

We had never seen that action figure before. Isaac and I were extremely happy since Zs'Skayr is simply creepy in the TV series.

ToyCon : Ben 10

Another ben 10 action figure we got is the ultra cool Wildmutt! Wildmutt's general body shape appears to be like a big orange dog with no eyes or tail. His teeth are very defined and are on the outside of his face. Wildmutt has no eyes, instead using his sense of smell and hearing in vision's place, which are aided by three slit nostrils on both sides of his neck.

We had never seen this figure before, needless to say I was just as excited as Isaac was!

ToyCon : Ben 10

Finally we found a Heatblast action figure from Ben 10! Isaac was born too late for the first TV seasons of Ben 10 hence why it is hard to find those first figures. Thanks to the ToyCon we managed to find one of Isaac's favorite character!

Heatblast is a magma-based lifeform whose body is composed of brown and red rocks with lava inside. His head is completely fiery. His body is very hot, making touching him very damaging without protection. His feet have slight oval like design with only two toes and one back toe. He wears the Omnitrix and Ultimatrix symbol on his chest.

ToyCon : Hellboy

A few months ago, Isaac watched the Hellboy movies for the first time. While I ain't a big fan of the first one, I believe that the sequel is one of the best superhero/fantasy film of the last few years!

Sadly action figures of the big red anti-hero are rather hard to find around here. Still we were able to find one at the TonCon. Standing almost 9" tall, this is a superbly scuplted and detailed released by Mezco a few years ago. Hellboy comes with a gun, belt and jacket. Very cool!

ToyCon : Star Wars

A great find at the ToyCon was the Rancor from Return of the Jedi. While we do own the original 1983 version of the giant monster we had to get this Power of the Force version released in the late 1990s.

Bigger and taller then the original one. The plastic used for it is also very different and softer. Through the years there has been so far four different versions of the monster. Rancors were large carnivorous reptomammals originating from the planet of Dathomir.

ToyCon : Star Wars

We can't get enough of Star Wars!

At the last ToyCon we were lucky enough to find a Force Battlers version of the Emperor! Produced by Hasbro a few years ago, this collection was sadly never released around here... making it almost impossible to find.

Its a cool and detailed 7 inch figure of the evil Darth Sidious. It comes with a lighsaber and some electricity/force lightning that he can throw by pressing a button.

Here is Isaac doing his version of the dark lord.

Toycon

Last June we went to the Montreal ToyCon! There are two such events every year and I think that this was either our 5th or 6th time for Isaac and I. We had a great time and found tons of awesome action figures.

In the coming days we will go through all of the stuff we go there! Trust me, it got a little insane! But first, Quelug (Quebec Lego users Group) were there showcasing some of their own Lego creation, have a look.

Tron Legacy

It is no secret that Isaac and I love the Tron Legacy film. We have watched it so many times its almost insane! While doing the groceries we saw that Spin Masters had release a very cool One Man Light Jet based on the film. This is part of the Series 2.

Guess what? We had to pick it up! Isaac's collection of Tron and Tron Legacy is nicely growing into something amazing! As for the Light jet, its looks like in the film, comes with a action figures and lights up. We love it!

Thanos!!

The arrival of Thanos in our Marvel universe meant some hard times for our superheroes...

Without waiting too long, Thanos joined force with Galactus and some of the stronger Marvel supervillains  (a team actually assembled by Isaac) to create an offensive attack on what now looks like a very small team of heroes! Who will win?

Thanos!

As a late teen one of my favorite comic book series was Marvel's The Infinity Gauntlet. It was a six-issue comic book limited series published by Marvel Comics from July to December in 1991. The series was written by Jim Starlin and penciled by George PĂ©rez and Ron Lim.

The storyline follows events involving the character Thanos, a mad cosmic tyrant bent on slaying half of all sentiences existing then in Marvel's multiverse in order to appease the Marvel Universe's actual embodied personification of Death in an attempt to win its love.

I've always loved Thanos...

Fast forward to now.... Isaac is a big time Marvel universe fan! He even told me recently that this was his favorite collection of action figures! A friend from work had told me that he had a Thanos figure for sale. Without hesitating I got it for Isaac... and myself.

Released in 2005 by Toy Biz, this gigantic Thanos figures  is one of the best sculpted and designed ever! Nearly 9-inch-tall even has a removable right hand that features the infamous gauntlet. Its fully articulated and rather scary! Plus it comes with his love, Death.

Amazing!
