Happy Birthday Isaac : Marvel

A friend of mine is selling his Marvel Legends action figures so I got a couple for Isaac. Apocalypse was the first. What an amazing action figure this is! Standing 6" tall, this was released by Toy Biz as part of Series 7.

Its a superbly detailed, sculpted and hard to find figure. I would lie to say that only Isaac was extremely happy to get this... I was too! This is much more impressive figure then the one we previously got!

Apocalypse first appeared in X-Factor #5 (June, 1986), created by writer Louise Simonson and designed by artist Walter Simonson.

Its Halloween! We both wish you a great and creepy Halloween! This year Isaac is Frankenstein!!! He loves the classic monsters!

Happy Birthday Isaac : Marvel

Another Marvel Universe action figure I gave Isaac for his birthday was Dr.Doom. We both love Doom! And that new figure looks amazing! It is superbly detailed and looks so much cooler then our original Secret Wars figure released in 1984.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in Fantastic Four #5 (July 1962) wearing his trademark metal mask and green cloak.

Happy Birthday Isaac : Marvel

Another Marvel universe I got for Isaac was Colossus!

We both love X-Men and we were missing that one. Its a cool nicely sculpted figure. Colossus first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975). A Russian mutant, the character is a member of the X-Men, and is by far the physically strongest member of the team, being able to transform into a strong metallic form, even without his powers he holds a physically imposing figure standing at 6' 7". Throughout the series he has been portrayed as a quiet, shy character, honest and innocent. He has had a fairly consistent presence in X-Men-related comic books since his debut. A talented artist, he only reluctantly agrees to use his powers in combat, feeling it is his responsibility to use his abilities for the betterment of human and mutant-kind.

Happy Birthday Isaac : Marvel

Isaac recently told me that of all the collection he has, the Marvel is his favourite! With that in mind, I went a little "crazy" and got home lots of cool Marvel action figures.

The first one was the Marvel Universe Doctor Strange. As a kid I never was a big fan of this rather "darker" character but he simply looks too cool. Plus Marvel is actually developing a live action film that should be out in a few years. The character was co-created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in Strange Tales #110 (July 1963).

Isaac was happy to get him as I've been telling him a lot about Doctor Strange recently. Its a nice looking figure.

Happy Birthday Isaac : Lego

Isaac also got three Lego Racers kit from me. These simples yet very cool vehicles are becoming his favourites. Now what we want to do is to modify them so that we can fit a mini figurine in them!

Happy Birthday Isaac : Lego Star Wars

Isaac got a very cool Lego Star Wars set from uncle Bob and aunt Ju. The Lego Star Wars Imperial V-Wing Star Fighter (#7915). Released in early 2011 this set includes a new Imperial Pilot and R2-Q2 Astromech Droid Minifigures. It has a total of 139 pieces.

This is a very cool spaceship and another one for the Empire in Isaac's ever growing collection!

Superbly illustrated, detailed and it comes with an exclusive Luke Skywalker mini figure!!

This is a book that Isaac will go back for years to come!

Isaac got his very first Lego Spongebob Squarepants set at his birthday. His cousin Léa gave him  the Heroic Heroes of the Deep set (#3815). Its a cool set that comes with three mini figures (SpongeBob, Patrick and Plankton) and a boatmobile vehicle. The set contains 95 pieces.

Happy Birthday Isaac : Lego

Like every little five years old, Isaac loves Lego. So it came as no surprise that what he mostly got as birthday gifts was Lego.

The first set was from me, Atlantis Wreck Raider (#8057). This is a small set that contains only 64 pieces but its pretty cool. The set includes 2 minifigures: 1 heroic diver and 1 mutant Shark Warrior with trident. It also comes with a super scooter with dual harpoon shooter, directional engines, spinning turbines and control flaps.

Ben 10 !!!!!!!!!

The new Ben 10 action figures collection is out and we got some! Probably one of the coolest find ever was to finally get Kevin 11 transformed!!!

Ben 10 fans knows just how hard it is to find the original Kevin 11 so it was great news to see this re-released by under a new form. Isaac is extremely proud.

Flea Market Hunting : TMNT

On a recent trip to the flea market we found a very cool Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mega Bloks playlet. Beside that it was extremely cheap, what is even cooler is that those Mega Bloks are compatible with Lego!

This is a very cool sets that was almost complete and came with the manual. Sadly we are missing Shredder's head.

Back in 2003, Mega Bloks announced that it had entered into a worldwide agreement with 4Kids Entertainment, Inc., the exclusive worldwide agent for the all-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for the right to manufacture and sell construction toys embodying the characters and elements associated with the all-new TMNT animated television series.

Also here's a quick reminder to let you know that the next Montreal Toycon is coming up this weekend... on October 23rd, 2011. It all happens starting at 10am on October 23rd and takes place at the Courtyard By Marriott Montreal Airport! As usual, Isaac and I will be there!

Happy Birthday to Isaac!

Five years ago today, the most amazing event of my life happened... the birth of my son.

Still to this day I can't even realize just how lucky I am to be the father of this incredible little human being. He has brought me wisdom, justice and love when all else failed. He is my son and idol but most of all he is the meaning of my life.

Je t'aime Isaac.
XXX

His birthday was actually last Thursday, October 13th. We've both being extremely busy and sick... somehow I forgot to mention his birthday here. One thing that's for sure, last Saturday he had a great birthday bash with all of his friends and received so much gifts that it will probably represent weeks worth of updates here!

Here's the amazing Angry Birds cake I had done for him. Needless to say that everyone loved it!

Flea Market Hunting : Masters of the Universe

Isaac is slowly becoming a big fan of the Masters of the Universe. We both especially love the 2002 reboot action figures collection but once in awhile when we find cool 80s retro MOTU we get them. This double find was actually pretty cool. At only fifty cents each we quickly grabbed both Evil-Lyn and Teela!

Released in 1984, Evil-Lyn actually looks a little weird now and not that evil at all! Teela was part of the original 1982 series. I always wanted her (the action figure) but never did as a kid. Sadly they were both missing their cool accessories but we are still happy to now own them!

Flea Market Hunting : Batman

One thing my son and I realized is that you can never have enough variation of your favourite action figure characters. This is why we got this Catwoman action figure, probably our fifth!

Released by Kenner in 1993, this cool figure is based on the Batman the Animated Series TV show. Sadly the seller had lost all of the cool accessories but we are still happy to own it!

On a side note, at the New York ComicCon that happened last weekend, Hasbro finally announced a Nova Marvel Universe action figure! It will be part of the third wave for 2012. I have been personally dreaming of such action figure ever since I was a kid. I won't miss that one and will pre-order it as soon as possible!

Flea Market Hunting : Star Wars

Its been awhile but we finally found some new used Star Wars action figure.

First of all was the original Jawa. This was released by Kenner in 1978. Its a cool figure but looks rather dull compared to the Jawas released by Hasbro in the past few years.

Also got Weequay, which appeared in Return of the Jedi as a guard to Jabba the Hutt.

Flea Market Hunting : Beetlejuice

We finally got a Beetlejuice action figure but sadly it is missing its head! We always see some around at the flea market but never with their heads... hopefully this "situation" will soon be corrected!

Flea Market Hunting : Thundercats

We got a new old school Thundercats action figure. Ok he is not the most exciting character but still... our goal is to get as many Thundercats as possible, even though some of those older figures are just plain ugly!

Jackalman was a villain released as part of the first series.

Following up the 130 TV episodes was a cool line of toys produced by LJN. The figures stood at a average of 5" tall and well represented each character from the series.

Collectors are often still searching for the toughest pieces for their collection. These would be the Cats Lair, the Monster, Jaga and Ben Gali. But the toughest and most expensive pieces are the carded gift set packages of Lion-O with Thunderwings and Mumm-Ra with Luna Lasher.

Flea Market Hunting : Aliens

Another weekend, another trip to the flea market!

As you probably know, Isaac is really onto the whole Alien stuff. We finally managed to find a new item to our collection... the Aliens Space Marine Power Loader. This is a superb toy. Standing at about 9" tall, it a great recreation of the famous mech in the film.

Aliens were finally brought back to the stores in 92' with a whole new toy line. Produced by Kenner again, the line added a twist that the Alien would partially resemble it's host. This idea may have been spawned from a early version of the script of Alien 3, the "Dog Alien". As for the Marines, Humans & Androids, they were loosely based off the characters from the Aliens movie. The line continued for 3 years until it's demise. Rumor has it the demise was based on Kenner shipping and not issuing many new figures to keep intrest. A total of 27 Marines and Aliens, and 4 vehicles were produced for the Aliens series.

Imaginext Batman

The last Imaginext Batman set we got from the Fisher Price web site was Catwoman! Look at just how cool this is! Catwoman comes with a motorcycle, whip and cat! Its one of the best looking Imaginext action figure so far! We both love it!

Also I decided to "upgrade" the blog with a new dynamic look. My personal favourite is the magazine layout, which the blog is now set to by default.

Imaginext Batman

Another set we got was the one with both Hawkman and Flash! Wow! These two are great! We've been watching the Batman The Brave and the Bold a lot lately so Isaac was familiar with both characters.

I'd say, Hawkman is one of my personal favorite Imaginext action figure!

Imaginext Batman

One new Imaginext Batman we were anticipating to get was Clayface. Now that's an awesome action figure! As you can see this is a much bigger and taller Imaginext action figure then the usual. It similar to the big alien creatures they released before.

Clayface's mouth opens so he can eat superheroes. He also comes with a removable hammer. Here is Isaac doing his best Clayface imitation!

Imaginext Batman

My son and I love Fisher Price.
My son and I love Imaginext.
My son and I love Batman.

Sadly in our part of Canada, lots of toys are released later (sometimes even a year later) due to the packaging need to be bilingual... Out of all brands, Fisher Price seem to be in no rush to follow this "policy" so we get everything way later.

I finally gave in an ordered directly from Fisher Price online. I ordered all of their Imaginext Batman collection we didn't owned yet. The next day the "ever reliable" Canadian post went on a strike that lasted about a month.... Thankfully we finally got our Imaginext Batman! And yes, I was as excited about it as Isaac.

One figure that has been impossible to find around here was Two Face! Thanks to the Internet (and Visa) we now own him. Its a cool action figure that comes with a few accessories.

Flea Market Hunting: Spawn

The last action figure we found during that trip at the flea market was a cool female character from the Spawn universe. Unfortunately we have no clue what is her name! Its a cool evil character with her wings opening wide.
