Plants vs. Zombies + the end of Hasbro's Marvel Universe and Legends

The other Funko figure we got from their Plants vs. Zombies line was the Sunflower.

Now we are missing the regular Zombie, Disco Zombie and the Peashooter. They are all about 3.75" tall each. Hopefully we will soon own them all.

And one sad new announced at the San Diego Comic Con. Hasbro has announced that the Marvel Universe and Marvel Legends toy lines will end next year. The final wave of Marvel Universe will be Omega Red, Nightcrawler (in Uncanny X-Force costume), Aurora, Northstar, and Black Knight. They will arrive sometime at the end of this year. No word on what happened to the Death Head figure teased last year.

Why was this decision was made? The answer is basically that retailers weren't ordering. Last year, the MU line never sold much due to retailers underordering, hence why only three waves were made this year.

However, Hasbro will continue making 3.75" figures for Marvel but will be rebranding the line. In 2014, they'll be releasing Avengers-themed figures. 2015 will feature only X-Men-themed figures.  After that?  Who knows, Hasbro hasn't announced plans yet.

Terrible news especially since Isaac and I love the Marvel Universe and owns lots of them.

  1. Yeah it is sad news but hey...They weren't making their way down here anyways. So I kinda gave up on em. We will see what the future holds though.

    1. Most of them are near impossible to find around here.

I was talking to someone who owns a toy store, he told me that in the Marvel Universe Series 4 box he received there was only ONE Nova. One! Just one?! Why? Dont they want to make money?

  2. Its weird here in Michigan because sometimes you can find those MU figures all over the place and other times they are no where to be found and those that do turn up turn into peg warmers like Gladiator who are local Target has two pegs full for months on end and will not clearance them out.

    1. Sadly I don't know. There are some Marvel Universe figures we tried to find but its almost impossible apart from paying way too much for them on Ebay...
