Flea Market Hunting : Masters of the Universe

We finally found the original He-Man action figure!

He's in great condition but sadly was missing his weapons and clothes. Ah, the memories of discovering this collection 30 years ago. The first two figures my brother and I got were He-Man and Man-at-Arms.

There is a Masters of the Universe documentary coming soon called Toy Masters. Can't wait to see that.

Check out these great Ralph McQuarry drawing from when he worked on what became the 1987 science-fiction fantasy film. The movie stars Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor. Other actors include Jon Cypher as Man-At-Arms, Chelsea Field as Teela, Billy Barty as Gwildor, and Courteney Cox.

The film was released in the United States on August 7, 1987 after the popularity of the toy line and cartoon had peaked.

  1. Another fine score! My first He-Man toy was He-Man himself in the Wind Raider. I couldn't believe how awesome that thing was at the time. My second figure was Beast man and he remains a favorite to this day.

  2. I should add too, I never owned a Battle Cat until adulthood, but did have Panthor as a kid, so don't feel too bad for me ;)

  3. I liked Beastman well enough but the 2002 version of him is AWESOME! Wish I held onto it.
