Lego Marvel Super Heroes

Yes! We finally found some Lego Marvel Super Heroes! The week the highly anticipated film The Avengers came out (we've seen it three times already in theatre), our local Toys R Us got two sets.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes Captain American Avengin Cycle (#6865). This is a cool set and so far the only way to get Captain America. It has 72 pieces and features 3 minifigures: Captain America, general and foot soldier Chitauri.

Cap' bike is not surprisingly reminiscent of the one of Catwoman. He does come with his famous shield! Also there a small alien craft with folding wings and flick missiles while there also a shield holder for the Chitauri foot soldier.

Flea Market Hunting : TMNT

Yes! We got the TMNT Mondo Gecko action figure released by Playmates in 1990. This one has always been a favourite of mine. He simply looks too cool!

Mondo Gecko began his life as a normal lizard who fell into New York City sewers when the TMNT were mutated by the ooze, and he also became mutated.

Flea Market Hunting : Spider-Man

Another Marvel action figure we were missing was Electro! We go the Electro Spark version released years ago from Toy Biz. Cool yet simple figure that stands about 5" tall.

Electro is the name of several fictional characters that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics, including two from Marvel's predecessors, Timely Comics and Atlas Comics. The most prominent Electro is Maxwell Dillon, a supervillain and an enemy of Spider-Man. He was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in The Amazing Spider-Man #9 (Feb. 1964).

Flea Market Hunting : Marvel Secret Wars

We found an original Marvel Secret Wars action figure of Daredevil. The sleek red-costumed version of the man without fear made its debut in the second series of these figures. Sadly our figure is pretty beat up but we're still happy especially since we got it for almost nothing.

According to former Marvel Editor-In-Chief Jim Shooter, Mattel came to Marvel with the title "Secret Wars." Thus, comic series was born. The figures were Marvel's answer to Kenner's DC Super Powers line also launched in 1984. The Secret Wars figures were articulated only at the shoulders, hips and neck and had no special "action feature" (Super Powers figures had both knee joints and built in action features).

All figures came with "Secret Shields." The Heroes came with round shields and the Villains came with square shields. These shields came with a series of two-sided inserts that changed the scene when tilted. With a few notable exceptions, the most figures came with few other accessories and the accessories that were present (e.g., guns) were reused frequently.

Here is the amazing Super Villains Tower of Doom Playset, which hopefully we will find someday.

This is the original Print advertisement for the Secret Wars figures.

Flea Market Hunting : Marvel

Isaac and I finally got an action figure of Mister Sinister! Ok it is missing its cape but we are still very happy, plus we got it for almost nothing. Just look at him!!! He means business!

The character first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #221 (Sept. 1987) and was created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Marc Silvestri.

Flea Market Hunting : Super Powers

As a kid I loved the Super Powers collection from Kenner. My brother and I owned most of them and growing up I kept them. Sadly it seem that I lost both Batman and Flash.

Isaac and I finally found the original Flash at the flea market, only for a buck! Its a cool classic action figure and we are extremely happy to have it on our collection now.

Flea Market Hunting : Lego Spider-Man

This Lego Spider-Man The Origins (#4851) set  is simply too cool! It comes with two lab scenes, Peter Parker, Mary Jane, Norman Osborn, a scientist, Spider-Man and the Green Goblin which has become one of our favourite Lego mini figure. In total there are 212 pieces.

Isaac especially loves the aquarium with all the spiders and the special chamber where Osborn becomes Goblin.

I have seen this set going for around $380 online, insane! Here is the original package.

And here's a first look at the upcoming new Lego Spider-Man set coming by the end of summer. Can't wait to get this one! Notice there is Iron Fist in there!!
