Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice...

Mission accomplished! My son loves the new action figures and the Batmobile I got him over the weekend. As usual, last night we ended up playing a lot and the Hall of Justice was the center of an epic battle!

The evil Darksied beat the hell out of Bart, leaving the little Simpson in bad shape. It was now up to the Toxic Avenger to face the master of destruction! Standing next to them was none other then the Lon Chaney werewolf, which my son told me is now one of his favorite.

With his new Batmobile, the Dark Knight wanted to came to the rescue but ended up crushing his poor old friend Robin. Needless to say this was a lotta fun! Now I can wait for him to get the Easter gifts I got him.

Flea Market Hunting

With the beautiful weather yesterday and some time to kill I decided to go to the flea market. There weren't that many tables in there but did managed to find some new action figures and a vehicule for my son.

I got a Ewok figure. We first watched Return of the Jedi last week and he told me that he loved the Ewoks, so now he owns one. Next was a Lone Chaney inspired werewolf released by Burger King in 1997. My son is slowly getting into The Simpsons so I got him a Batman inspired Bart. French speaking people probably remember the amazing Scrameustache comic book. Before yesterday I never knew that a figure existed.

And last but not least I got a Toxic Avenger figure! Based on Troma's classic the Toxic Crusaders collection was a rather weird attempt to turn this out of this world character into Saturday morning cartoon. Oh! How could I almost forget... I also got a very cool Batmobile that makes sounds and has cannon coming out on each sides!

Star Wars Power of the Force Action Figures

For those who just recently started to follow our blog... let's rewind. Back in 1995, Kenner released an updated version of their original Star Wars action figures collection. Like all "Jedis" at the time, I bought lots of them and kept them sealed. Fast forward to a few months ago, with my son starting to be a Padawan of his own, I decided that every week I will give him a new figure from that Power of the Force collection.

So tonight it was time for another one. A couple of days ago my son asked me how come he didn't have the Obi-Wan Kenobi figure that's on the card of all the other figures. So the choice was obvious. He already owns a 12" and 7.5" Force Battlers Ben figure. And I can say that knowing my son, Ben is one of his favorite good guy in the Star Wars universe. So tonight Darth Vader got a visit from an old friend!

Shopping spree madness... sequel

Like I mentioned yesterday, due to the bad weather hardly any tables were set at the flea market so my son and I jumped in our geek mobile and went to Wal-Mart. I know most of you might not be fans but here in the cold north of Canada there's not as many cool stores. Anyway... we did ended up getting seven action figures for two bucks each, now that's a steal!

From the Wolverine and the X-Men collection we got Logan, Cyclops and Iceman. All three are cool and Logan comes with some rather weird removable claws. He's also dressed like my son's 10" Slashin' Action Wolverine. Laser "comes out" of Cyclops while Iceman pretends to be the Silver Surfer.

We also got Wolverine from the Wolverine and the X-Men collection. Its a retro look for Wolverine and he came with these removable claws too. Based on the X-MEN ORIGINS WOLVERINE film we got the human Sabretooth and that retarded new look for Deadpool. Finally from the DC Universe Infinite Heroes collection we got Scarecrow. Sadly not other figures from that DC Universe series were available.

As my son said, now with two Deadpool we have we get twice the talking... and double the trouble for Wolverine!

But overall we still have more Wolverine figures... including my old school Secret Wars Wolverine from the mid-1980s.

Here's my son doing what he does best... letting his amazing imagination taking over and simply have fun! I love him so much!

Shopping spree madness

Even though the weather wasn't that good over the weekend, my son and I decided to go to the flea market. Unfortunately very few dealers were there so we ended up getting nothing. To make up for it we ended up at two of the local shopping malls trying to find something to satify our thirst for some good old fully jointed play figures!

Two hours later we did managed to find some very cool new X-Men and DC Comics figures! I can now safely say that I have rightfully earned the title of coolest dad ever! We will have all the details about it in the coming days...

Fisher Price's Imaginext

Everyone growing up in the late 1970s - early 1980s must remember the amazing Adventure People collection from Fisher Price. About 30 sets and more then 70 different figures were made to satisfy every kid's wild imagination. Well in 2002, Fisher Price released an updated version known as Imaginext.

While smaller in size then the Adventure People figures, the Imaginext figures are just as cool. Gigantic themed based playsets and figures have been released through the years including; Jungle, Dragons, Pirates, Lost Creatures (Dinosaures), Ocean, City, Space and DC Super Friends.

The amount of details of some of these sets is incredible. Its as if everything was though out perfectly. There are traps, hidden doors and tons of cool accessories. My son owns a lot of Imaginext. What you are seeing here in pictures is about half of his collection, the rest is at his mom's place or simply out of the picture's frame. Needless to say that we spend lots of time playing with those and probably will for a long time...

Grocery and action figures

Just came back from the grocery and what has now become a tradition... buy an action figure for my amazing three years old son (if he is all nice and everything). Today we got another figures from the X-MEN ORIGINS WOLVERINE line, Weapon X (aka Logan about to become Wolverine).

The figure is nicely sculted and comes with some cool accessories but like all of the recent 3 3/4" Marvel based figure they are a little too fragile to play. But since we already own both Deadpool and Sabretooth from the same collection expect Weapon X to have his hands full and get his ass kick!

My son has recently started to play the X-MEN ORIGINS WOLVERINE video game for the Nintendo DS Lite. This is yet another game added to the endless hours he wants to spend on that amazing portable console. I've tried the game and its a fun 2D side scroller/ beat 'em up!

Weapon X is a clandestine government project in the fictional Marvel Universe conducted by the Canadian Government's Department K, which turns willing and unwilling beings into living weapons. The project often captures mutants and experiments on them to enhance their superpowers and also mutates baseline humans. The Weapon X Project produced the antihero of the X-Men team, Wolverine, and other characters such as Deadpool and Sabretooth.

Star Wars Power of the Force Action Figures

Another week so its time for another Star Wars Power of the Force action figures. My son has been on a Star Wars craze lately. My guess it is because of the very cool Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga that he is playing on the Nintendo DS Lite. He his only three years old and already addicted to video games!

Last night we watched RETURN OF THE JEDI for the very first time, he loved it! He spent most of tonight singing the John Williams theme song, told you he's a Jedi in the making! Anyway, the new action figure I gave him is R2-D2. He loves R2. I mean come on, this robot can actually do almost anything, talks, flies (in the prequel trilogy) and is kinda funny. Needless to say that we spend most of tonight playing with our 3 3/4" Star Wars Power of the Force action figures.

R2-D2 (phonetically spelled Artoo-Deetoo, and called "Artoo" for short), is an astromech droid. The sound effects for R2-D2's "voice" were created by sound designer Ben Burtt, using an ARP 2600 analog music synthesizer, as well as his own vocalizations processed through other effects.

Flea Market Hunting: Batman & Catwoman

The last two figures we got at the flea market were Batman and Catwoman. Batman looks to be from the mid 1990's and loosely based on the animated series from the same period. He comes with somekind of rocket launcher that hangs on his back. Catwoman is from the BATMAN RETURNS film from Tim Burton. Both are very cool and my son haven't stopped playing with them.

Why? Well a couple of weeks ago I gave him some old comics I used to own. One of them was Legends of Dark Knight #49 from DC Comics. Published in the early 1990's where the Catman starts "hunting" young women. Batman and Catwoman form an uneasy alliance to stop him. The story features an alternate origin and characterization of Thomas Blake. Batman wants to apprehend him, while Catwoman wants him dead. They eventually catch him and, between the two of them, beat him to a bloody pulp, although Batman is able to restrain Catwoman from committing murder.

The comic is bloody and violent but my son simply can't put it down and "read it" almost everytime he's in my car. No need to tell you that we went crazy when I discovered both Batman & Catwoman at the flea market.

Flea Market Hunting: Star Wars Force Battlers Obi-Wan Kenobi

My son and I love the Playskool Star Wars Jedi Force collection. Unfortunately they are extremely rare to find here in the cold north of Canada. One Star Wars collection I had never heard of is the Force Battlers released by Hasbro, while a little taller then the Jedi Force they can still be match together to create an even bigger Star Wars universe.

At 7.5" the Obi-Wan Kenobi figure is nicely sculpted with oversized features and  is very cartoonish / anime inspired. Unfortunately the lightsaber was no where to be found so we got him for a buck.

Some very cool Force Battlers were released like the Emperor, Boba Fett, General Grevious and some Clone Troopers. Hopefully we will get all of them!
