Saturday Movie
Isaac and myself love movies. Now every Saturday we will quickly talk about a movie we recently watched. Hope you enjoy and share in your views with us.
Ant Man
Forced out of his own company by former protégé Darren Cross, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) recruits the talents of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a master thief just released from prison. Lang becomes Ant-Man, trained by Pym and armed with a suit that allows him to shrink in size, possess superhuman strength and control an army of ants. The miniature hero must use his new skills to prevent Cross, also known as Yellowjacket, from perfecting the same technology and using it as a weapon for evil.
Marvel does it again. Ant Man is a funny heist film with superheroes. I felt like a kid again, going to the cinema during a Saturday morning and diving head first into the magical world of films. It is also nicely tied to the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Director: Peyton Reed
Running time: 117 minutes
Released: 2015

LJN's original WWF action figures from the late 1980s remains one of the greatest ever! We still own all of our originals including a ring and the blue steel cage.
Here's a cool poster from Mattel's WWE collection.
Great photos of Hasbro's The Avengers in action!
Gotta love those Japanese!

The Host
An American military personnel dump chemicals into South Korea's Han River. Several years later, a creature emerges from the tainted waters and sinks its ravenous jaws into local residents. When the creature abducts their daughter, a vendor (Song Kang-ho - one of the best actor at the time) and his family decide that they are the only ones who can save her.
One of the last great films from the amazing early 2000s South Korean cinema wave. Stylish and funny, Bong Joon-ho is in top form with this one, which is more or less an homage to the giant monster B-films of the 1950s.
Director: Bong Joon-ho
Running time: 121 minutes
Released: 2006

Howl's Moving Castle
A young girl is forced to toil in her parents' hat shop and her only joy is in her occasional meetings with a handsome stranger, Howl the wizard. When a witch sees her happiness, she curses her to become old in a jealous rage. Ashamed and afraid, she flees to Howl's magic moving castle. Will Howl see her for who she really is?
Probably my favourite of the Studio Ghibli films. This is classic Hayao Miyazaki at its best. A total delight on every levels. Love it.
Director: Hayao Miyazaki
Running time: 119 minutes
Released: 2004

This Tron Legacy action figure is the only one we are missing and sadly its next to impossible to find.
The Legend of the Lone Ranger collection from Gabriel was amazing.
Kenner's The Bionic Woman collection featured some cool dolls.
Never knew that there were some Albator figurines made back in the days.

Adventures in Babysitting
When plans with her boyfriend fall through, high school senior Chris Parker (Elisabeth Shue) ends up babysitting the Anderson kids, Brad and Sara. What should be a quiet night in, however, turns into a series of ridiculous exploits, starting when they leave the house to pick up Chris' friend Brenda. Soon, Brad's buddy Daryl is involved, and the group must contend with car thieves, blues musicians and much more.
For some strange reasons I can't explain, I am still enjoying this film from producer Debra Hill, which is from a time when adolescent themed films were actually fun.
Director: Chris Columbus
Running time: 102 minutes
Released: 1987
