Next was another action figure from The Spectacular Spider-Man Animated Series, this time Green Goblin. Standing at 6 inch tall, this is another cool new look for a famous character. Sadly it was missing all of his accessories but we're still happy.
A boy and dad passion for action figures.

Flea Market Hunting : The Spectacular Spider-Man Animated Series
Another beautiful day, time to go to the flea market! We found some cool things during this trip. First of all was this wicked cool Electro from The Spectacular Spider-Man Animated Series.
We had never seen this one before. Cool figure, weird new look for the character and it features a lightning blast on one of his arm. New and seal this one goes for $90 online... we got him for $2.

Boys having fun...
It is now a tradition for Isaac and I that the day a new Marvel film comes out at the cinema we take the day off and go. Iron Man 3 was the next one... one that we really really wanted to see!
Here's my personal review on Iron Man 3:
Following last year mega hit THE AVENGERS, the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2 began last weekend with IRON MAN 3. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark, the billionaire playboy, industrialist and ingenious engineer who happens to be Iron Man.
After the events of New York, Stark is not the same anymore. He can't seem to get his life back and soon everything around him goes down… including his own self.
Like the first IRON MAN film, this sequel is based on the Extremist comics. In the first film, the story arc incorporates an updated origin for Iron Man. Tony Stark is a weapons designer whose weapons are being used against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan prior to the first Gulf War. During an inspection tour, one of Stark's own bombs detonates, sending a piece of shrapnel into his chest, nearly killing him. He is then captured by Afghan terrorists. As with the original origin story, Tony creates the armor with Dr. Ho Yinsen (who quickly appears AGAIN in IRON MAN 3) and escapes the terrorists.
The Mandarin is referenced in the 2008 live action IRON MAN movie via the name of the terrorist group called "The Ten Rings", who holds Tony Stark captive in the beginning of the film. Raza, the leader of the Ten Rings, has a single red ring that he rubs with his other hand. He also makes a reference to Genghis Khan when speaking to Stark and Yinsen.
Also in IRON MAN 2, a Ten Rings operative goes to Russia to assist Ivan Vanko in his vendetta against Tony Stark. When he is arrested in Monaco after his first confrontation with Stark, The Ten Rings and Justin Hammer break Vanko out of prison.
In IRON MAN 2, a small plot arc of the Extremis story involves Tony trying to find a solution to the palladium poisoning from his Iron Man arc reactor, eventually coming to creating a new element for a pacemaker resembling Extremis armor.
Extremis is a military nanotechnology serum, an attempt to recreate the Super-Soldier Serum, which interfaces with the brain's 'repair center' and directs the body to rebuild itself from scratch as if it were all wound tissue to be replaced. The design for the new body is programmable prior to injection and can involve superhuman abilities, giving it an (untested) military application.
Spoilers...
Back to IRON MAN 3. Iron Man's famous nemesis The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) is introduced. For fans of the comics this was the moment we were waiting for… and what a disappointment it turned out to be.
Here's the Mandarin's implication in the comic book storyline. The Mandarin somehow infiltrates the U.S. government via his role as CEO of Prometheus, a corporation specializing in bio-engineered weaponry (changed to A.I.M in the film). He appears to be using Extremis creator Aldrich Killian and Tony Stark's former love interest Maya Hansen (Guy Pearce and Rebecca Hall respectively in the film) to produce an army of Extremis enhanced soldiers as well as financing and arming terrorists around the globe. The Mandarin also appears to plan unleashing the Extremis virus in aerosol form on the public, expecting the 97.5% fatality ratio to cause a mass catastrophe of deaths.
In the IRON MAN 3 film, things aren't exactly the same, which is fine with me but what really make it frustrating here was the treatment given to the Mandarin. In the film the Mandarin is turned into the media-saturated, perception-is-reality 21st Century bad guy. The Mandarin doesn't really exist. He is a decoy. An illusion. Most might not remember but we got the exact same insulting treatment in BATMAN BEGIN when Ra's Al-Ghul (Ken Watanabe) is not the character we are presented.
As for Mandarin, whats wrong with the Ten Rings and their magical power?! What's wrong with him use magical elements? What's wrong with him being Asian? NOTHING. Yet they fucked up it badly.
As for the rest IRON MAN 3 is a good film. It is another Shane Black film set during Christmas. Its well written, witty, self-referential but it is also the least superhero film of the Marvel films so far. Don't get me wrong, I love Tony Stark but I wanted to see more Iron Man.
Guy Pearce gives a great performance as a now more vicious, ruthless and suave Aldrich Killian. Aldrich Killian heads a brain-trust organization called A.I.M. (in the comics, A.I.M. create the Cosmic Cube also known as the Tesseract in the live action films) that is developing Extremis, which is something that taps into human DNA and is able to reprogram it and regenerate limbs and enhance strength and cure wounds. But it also could change the whole world, which is what Killian intends to do with it.
Sadly Don Cheadle is not giving much to do either as War Machine… oups, Iron Patriot. Dear lord, why they changed him to Iron Patriot?! Don't they know that it is Norman Osborn who becomes the Iron Patriot! And finally the less said about Gwyneth Paltrow, the better. She probably wore the Iron Man suits just as much as Downey did, a shame.
But I still liked IRON MAN 3. Isaac and I had lots of film seeing it twice back to back on opening day and we can't wait for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2 films.
For the occasion, Isaac dressed up as Iron Isaac. Here he is in front of the cinema. We went to see the film twice the same day. First on 3D and then regular. Between representations we had some time to kill...
Ah! Monster University. Isaac can't wait for this one.
Nothing is as fun as blowing up someone with your lazer arm! And below Isaac is playing some House of the Dead video game!

Kim's Good Guys Dream Team
And here's my Good Guys Dream Team!!!!
This is a team of five, five of my favourite action figures ever! The leader of this Good Guys Dream Team is none other then Chuck Norris!! The martial artist and actor is famous for many things (including Internet's memes).
Lion-O from the Thundercats is a strong asset to this Good Guys Dream Team. He wields the legendary Sword of Omens! Dargon from the Sectaurs, Prince of the Shining Realm is one brave warrior.
Next is Dr.Fate. A character born in 1940, he is by far the wisest and smartest of the team. And finally, Red Hulk (also known as Rulk) is one of the most powerful being ever.
And there you have it my Good Guys Dream Team...

Kim's Bad Guys Dream Team
And here is my Bad Guys Dream Team!
Thanos is their almighty leader. Not a big surprise here considering I've been a fan of this cosmic being since the comic days. This is by far my favourite version of the Mad Titan.
Spawn's Sansker and the Rancor are the two brutes of the group. They are big, bad and strong! One of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coolest enemies in there, Slash. And lets not forget... Warduk. One of my all time favourite character.

Scary looking team we have here! Spawn's Tremors is the leader. He means business. There is also a totally evil Spawn Viking along with Superman's double Bizarro. An amazing version of Killer Croc and Hulk's enemy the Wendigo complete to very powerful team of bad guys assembled by Isaac!

Isaac's Good Guys Dream Team
A few months ago, the League of Extraordinary Bloggers decided to create their own dream team of action figures. Isaac and I loved the idea...
Recently I though about this again and told Isaac that we should do it too! We decided to limit our team to five members. We will both have a good guys and bad guys teams.
Isaac's Good Guys Dream Team:
What a great team Isaac has created here! Isaac always loved Spawn, and here actually choosed two Spawn figures, the original McFarlane figure along with the Medieval. There is also Matt Tracker from M.A.S.K. along with the Toxic Avenger and Hellboy as their leader!

Marvel Universe
Yeah! Isaac decided to get that awesome Marvel Universe Beta-Ray Bill at Legends Action Figures. Its a great looking figure of one of our favourite character in the Marvel Universe.
The character first appears in Thor #337 (Nov. 1983) and was created by writer-artist Walt Simonson. The character was initially intended to be a surprise as an apparent monster who unexpectedly proves to be a great hero. As such, Bill becomes the first being outside of the Marvel Universe's Norse pantheon to be deemed worthy enough to wield Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. After an initial rivalry for possession of the weapon, the alien warrior was granted a war hammer of his own, called Stormbreaker, and the two reconciled as staunch allies.

A new Lego video game came out for the Nintendo 3DS, Lego City Undercover The Chase Begins. Its a cool Grand Theft Auto type game exclusively for the 3DS. Its a little harder then the other Lego games but 9 hours later Isaac had completed it!

Flea Market Hunting : Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
And here's another TMNT action figure... Sergeant Bananas!
Never seen this guy before. He was released in 1991 by Playmates. For some reasons, I first though he was part of the Toxic Avengers collection.
This crazed critter of the Congo's got the mutant muscle of a million monkeys! And he's ready to wreak havoc on the Foot Clan. All because Shredder slopped Retromutagen Ooze over his jungle gym. After wandering through the muck, this soldier of misfortune mutated with a hairy gorilla. He's gonna swing into civilization and sway through the sewers to help the Turtles put an end to the Foot Clan's reign of terror.

One of our goal this flea market season was to find more TMNT. Here's Ray Fillet!
Released in 1990 by Playmates he is also known as Man Ray. This is a cool looking and very colourful figure. I remember that my younger brother owned this very figure back in the days. Isaac and I can now claim the same.

Flea Market Hunting : Masters of the Universe
Yeah! It was nice enough outside that we managed to go to the flea market and we found some cool stuff!!!!
Here is Dragstor from the original Masters of the Universe series. Released in 1986, this Evil Horde hunter transforms into pursuit machine!! When the ripcord is pulled through the slot, the figure can race along smooth surfaces.
A very cool figure but sadly and not surprisingly he was missing the ripcord and crossbow. Getting more MOTU is one of our goal this summer.

Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice...
Isaac wanted to play with our DC Comics action figures.
He had a good idea of the story he wanted to make, so I helped him placed everything according to his "needs" and watched my little man having fun!

Lego! Lego! Lego!
Isaac got the latest Lego magazine. He's always happy to receive mail.
There is a free Lego Galaxy Squad video game now available for iOS devices.
Here's a very cool custom Lego Legend of Zelda set. It was submitted to the Lego Cusoo program.
Wow! Look at this custom Lego Ghostbusters headquarter. This model created by Alexander Jones (aka Orion Pax) is really impressive. His model, which took him two months to make, features everything from Spengler's Lab to Venkman's office, and even the basement and kitchen. The outside of the Ghostbusters HQ was an actual firehouse in New York City, but the film set was in L.A., so there were a few inconsistencies that Jones managed to work his way around.

The set contains 195 pieces and features three minifigures. There is a new Iron Man, War Machine and Aldrich Killian, who's face glow in the dark!
Its a nice little set that didn't take long for Isaac to build. The boat is cool, it has an hidden trap and shoots two missiles.
Now we need the set with the Mandarin...
