Montreal ToyCon

Last October, Isaac and I attended the latest Montreal ToyCon.

We never miss this as its one of the best opportunity to score some great action figures. This year there was lots of sellers but they were more or less selling the same stuff and there wasn't as many old retro figures as we wished. We still managed to buy some cool stuff.

Lego brick is 55

Here is Isaac with some of his latest Lego creations! On the right is a Tron inspired robot, there is an island full of treasures and traps and Police hydroship.

Yesterday was the 55th anniversary of the Lego brick!

Here you can see how it first looked like.

And here's a patent of the actual brick.

Who would have though that those little bricks would be played and loved by kids and adults for all this time! In 1958, the modern brick design was developed, and it took another five years to find the right material for it, ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) polymer. The modern Lego brick was patented on 28 January 1958, and bricks from that year are still compatible with current bricks.

Wii U launch + Kirby

A few months ago, Isaac and I went to the Wii U launch at our local Best Buy. Nintendo had set-up a big van where we could play games inside. Sadly I was told not to take any photos inside...

And we scored that awesome Super Nes cartridge of all of the Kirby's game. Isaac is a big few of that pink bubble gum character.

The Destroyer!

Yes! We finally got the Destroyer action figure from the Thor live action film. Its a cool but rather short figure hence why we like our oldest version better.

Marvel Studios has a lot in store for fans with their wave of Phase Two films: "Iron Man 3" and "Thor: The Dark World" in 2013, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" in 2014, and "The Avengers 2" in 2015.

"'Ant-Man' is definitely part of Phase Three," Marvel's Kevin Feige told MTV News during our recent interview. "Like 'Iron Man 3,' it's certainly set in the Marvel Universe, but it's also through the lens of Edgar Wright — which is the only reason we're making the movie."

"I've known Edgar since our first lunch together at Comic-Con in 2004," he continued. "He asked me what Marvel was doing with 'Ant-Man' — we weren't even a studio then; what a difference eight years makes! It's very much an 'Ant-Man' origin movie from the perspective of Edgar Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish. It will of course be firmly planted in the MCU, but a different corner than we've seen before."

Indeed, "different corners" appears to be a theme of Marvel's third phase. "So much of the stories we're telling [right now] is about the core 'Avengers' characters we've now met, and they'll be evolving in big, surprising ways, in Cap's next movie and Thor's next movie and of course in 'Iron Man 3,' as we get them all into the next 'Avengers' film," said Feige. "Beyond that… 'Ant-Man' is the only one officially announced, but you probably don't have to look too far to guess at the next list of characters we're toying with and beginning to develop."

Could the oft-rumored "Doctor Strange" be a part of those plans?

"'Doctor Strange,' which I've been talking about for years, is definitely one of them," he confirmed. "He's a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he's totally different from anything else we have, just like 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' He's totally different from anything we've done before, as is 'Ant-Man,' which keeps us excited."

Star Wars + Avengers + Transformers

I know this ain't toys but here a few cool things we recently bought.

Look just how cute is Isaac with that Angry Birds Star Wars t-shirt. We love the character design. As for the game itself, I think its ok nothing more.

We also got some cool Avengers socks! Isaac will be Earth mightiest kid with these!

And we got a Transformer battery powered tooth brush.

We'll be back tomorrow with more toys!!

Its official, J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars Episode VII: Lens Flare.

After a bevy of emails and phone calls, the formalities have been wrapped up, and at long last everyone can exhale and properly share the word with an excited Internet. Yes, J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, the first of a new series of Star Wars films to come from Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy. Abrams will be directing and Academy Award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay.

"It's very exciting to have J.J. aboard leading the charge as we set off to make a new Star Wars movie," said Kennedy. "J.J. is the perfect director to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the Star Wars experience, and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture."

George Lucas went on to say "I've consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller." He's an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn't be in better hands."

"To be a part of the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor," J.J. Abrams said. "I may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid."

J.J., his longtime producing partner Bryan Burk, and Bad Robot are on board to produce along with Kathleen Kennedy under the Disney | Lucasfilm banner."

Hotel Transylvania + Goldorak - Grendizer

Isaac and I love the classic monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, Werewolf, Mummy... so when the film Hotel Transylvania came out we went and see it. At the time, the Happy Meals were giving away figures based on the film.

We got Frankenstein, which is a nice more cartoonish version of the creepy character.

More Grendizer (Goldorak)! HL Pro have announced yet another Grendizer based figure, this time the evil Gin Gin.

Our Marvel Collection + Goldorak - Grendizer

And here are our two last Marvel action figures... Galactus and Sentinel. These are two of our all time favourite.

Galactus is an amazing electronic figure measures a mammoth 19" tall and features cosmic lights and fearsome phrases. This huge figure is extremely well sculpted and detailed. Purple, light and dark blue, some black paint work is flawless. It is also well articulated (about 24 points) and says a total of eleven phrases! Push his chest button and he speaks and his eyes and helmet jewels light up yellow. And let's not forget the very cool 3 ¾" scale Silver Surfer action figure it comes with.

Sentinel is another amazing figure that stands about 16" tall! It has a very rough and damaged look. The sculpt and design is simply amazing. We see all of the wires running through his body. The paint job is also very good and brings the character to life. It is also fully articulated and comes with some wicked tentacles.

Here they are compared to other bad guys!

Grendizer! HL Pro announced more UFO Robot Grendizer (Goldorak) figures! Aren't they cute?!

Welcome AGAIN plastic lovers!

Three years ago, Isaac and I decided to start a little blog dedicated to our new passion... action figures.

Lots of things have happened since then. Isaac who was just three years old back then is now at school and is a wonderful little man. Our love for action figures is even bigger then it was back then. We go to every ToyCon, ComicCon, toy stores, flea markets, yard sales and look everywhere online.

We collect Star Wars, Aliens, Tron, Masters of the Universe, Sectaurs, Lego, Imaginext, Marvel, Godzilla, DC, Clash of the Titans, Adventure People, M.A.S.K., MUSCLES, Movie Maniacs, Spawn, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Toxic Crusaders, Scooby Doo, Battlestar Galactica, The Real Ghostbusters, Lord of the Rings, Imaginext, Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos, Mego and countless others.

Thanks to everyone who have been reading our blog! We really appreciate all the supports, comments, feedback. Thanks to everyone who send us toys, you're amazing! And thank you to everyone who mentioned our blog to others and spread the word about it.

Here is the very first photo published here. Isaac opening his very first Star Wars action figures. He was so small, still a baby

Our Marvel Collection + Goldorak - Grendizer

Here are more of our Spider-Man themed figures along with a few others I had sadly forgotten to take in photo earlier.

As you can see we own some very cool classic Spidey foes including Lizard, Vulture, an awesome Venom, Electro and Morbius. There is also both Gambit, Mystique and Pyro. Isaac really loves Morbius.

More on Grendizer (Goldorak). HL Pro recently release a Duke Fleed (Actarus) die cast Buggy. This looks extremely cool.

Our Marvel Collection + Goldorak - Grendizer

We love bad guys, and these are some of our favourites.

Thanos.
The mad titan is one of the coolest action figures we own. This was released by Marvel Select (and not Toy Biz) years ago. It came with a removable glove that holds the Infinity Gauntlet. It also came with Thanos love, Death.

We own two version of Apocalypse, the taller being of course the coolest. And there is that other character in between them, which I sadly forgot his name.

Probably the coolest animated TV series when I was a kid was Goldorak (Grendizer). The series was finally released on DVD here (I have to get it) and there are always tons of awesome new action figures coming out.

HL Pro recently released the very first images of their upcoming Hydargos figure.

Our Marvel Collection

As a kid, the Incredible Hulk was my favourite super hero. Hulk is big, green and means business.

The very first action figure I got for Isaac was actually Hulk (the one of the right). He is from the last Hulk film starring Edward Norton. By pressing a button on his back, he lights up. The Abomination, on its left, was the second action figure Isaac got.

From all the ones below, I have to say that Red Hulk is my favourite. Absorb Man is very nice, so is Skaar and Samson.

Our Marvel Collection

Lots of awesome Marvel action figures in this shot!

We love the Guardians of the Galaxy. This Hasbro pack released sometime ago was extremely hard to find around here but we did get it last summer. Dr. Strange is another favourite.

You can also see Darkhawk, YellowJacket, War Machine and The Thing. Sadly we don't own any other Fantastic Four... yet.

Our Marvel Collection & Disney Voltron

Time for some more good guys but that sometimes act like bad ones!

Some of our favourite Marvel action figures are in there. Blade is one of them, so is Luke Cage and Ghost Rider. That Toy Biz Punisher looks a little goofy but still means business while we own both the newer and Secret Wars Daredevil.

Really proud of Blade, which we found at a supermarket. He is impossible to find around here. He's a great figure with tons of cool accessories.

Disney Voltron? Yes it exist! Bandai lis aunching a Disney Super Robot next March in Japan. The robot is made up of seven robots (well, eight if you count Pluto's dog house). This Super Alloy King Robo: Mickey and Friends is priced at ¥13,440 (US$169), stands at 22cm, and will get its first public showing in Japan this weekend in Tokyo's Akihabara.

Our Marvel Collection & Tomy's Mighty Men and Monster Maker Kit

Here are our X-Men good guys collection.

Ok there are lots of Wolverine in there but hey, you can never have enough Wolverine. I still wish we own the Old Logan they released not too long ago. We love our Colossus, Deadpool and yellow Wolvie from the recent animated TV series. The Secret Wars version is cool too.

Remember Tomy's Mighty Men and Monster Maker Kit?

I always wanted one as a kid... and stupid me I saw one last year at the flea market and didn't buy it, yes I really wanted to kick myself afterward!

A friend owned this when it came out and I always wanted to use it. You assemble your creation from a selection of head, torso and leg tiles (you get six of each) that connect within the drawing frame. A piece of paper is placed over the tiles but under the frame, and then rub the “special” crayon over the paper, and Eureka! You’ve created a creature!

Our Marvel Collection & Pixar

Here are more Marvel bad guys, this time X-Men.

That awesome Magneto was from the animated X-MEN tv series. In the background is the old Toy Biz Juggernauth. We also own Multiple Man, a character which I just recently remembered was in the X-Men The Last Stand live action film. The movie version of Deadpool, Sabretooth and its human version.

We hope to find more X-Men bad guys.

Another cool article on Wired related to toys, this time about how one Pixar animator manufactures his own toys!

Our Marvel Collection & Nerf

Here's some bad guys from our Marvel action figures collection.

As you can see some of these figures we have different versions but it all cool with us. The bigger version of Ultron is actually way cooler then the Hasbro one recently released. We love our new Marvel Universe Dr.Doom, a "fantastic" figure.

There are three classic Mattel Secret Wars figures. We love that collection. Since I took that photo we got the new Hasbro Kang.

And finally here's the amazing Modok figure. Wow! We love that one a lot!!!! Its huge, superbly detailed and just mean.

Don't you love Nerf? Isaac and I love them! Here's a very cool article about it from Wired, check it out!
